Finding the Revue Software Root
Posted: February 7th, 2011 | Author: resno | Filed under: Logitech Revue, Root | Tags: GTVHacker, logitech, revue, software root | 4 Comments »It has been a few short weeks since we released the hardware root on the Logitech Reuve and the community has really sprung up in support of the progress we have made. Almost immediately, people began requesting root for non-virgin boxes,(Passed the initial setup phase) and which did not require opening it to solder onto the board.
Although we remain committed to reaching the overall goal of opening the Revue up to the masses, our best efforts have still not resulted in what we all want, the elusive ROOT.
It took a team of people countless hours… literally countless hours to make the progress that has been made, and we realize there is more work to be done. Rest assured, we are trying most every avenue available to us, and once we have made progress we will release it to the world! Keep your eye on gtvhacker for the latest in developments.
Do you have a Revue? If so, did you hear about root in time to use it?
Couple of thoughts:
1. I still have a fresh still in the box Revue I got from adobe max that I still never opened. I would love to crack it open and do your root but reading the steps I would really like a detailed step by step with commands for people like me that won’t work in the sh mode when doing roots and hacks in tivo that the steps are spelled out clearly. If you guy did that with some of the other hacks you did that would be helpful to us newbies.
2. With the open source that logitech gave out and the keys can you do anything with that to allow hulu to work on the Revue? Like making a custom firmware.
Thanks for all the work you guys are doing. I just waiting to open it up and use it as it should be and not just watch youtube crap on it.
Keep up all the great work you guys are doing
What would like more focus on? Just sh commands or what?
And with the BreakVue, we were able to get Hulu working. Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/user/gtvhacker#p/a/u/1/m6wOqV0UzMo
I guess one thing that would be very helpfull is a step by step “how to” video would be something that I think would be very helpful. My biggest fear is to brick it from some step I missed.
Also would a board like a velleman kit k8055 work for the USB->TTL?
I’ve got a Revue, but didn’t get the memo in time to root it 🙁 I maintain hope that you guys find another option for us all (hardware or otherwise)… Thanks for the ongoing effort!!!
